~ Stephen R. Covey
What is diversity? Sometimes it’s what you see such as gender, skin color and physical abilities. But it can also be what you don’t see like religion, ethnicity, personality, beliefs and values. A person’s value is not related to their race, possessions, personal choices, financial standings or opinions. You are valuable because you are you.
It can also be defined as people of different nationalities, races or religions and form a community. But what really makes it a ‘community’ is the fact that it values the dissimilarities in people. The idea of diversity encompasses acceptance and respect. It means understanding that each person is unique, and recognizing our individual differences. Our differences define us, allow us to make unique contributions as well as make life more interesting.
Society is diverse just because of the existence of people from various backgrounds. Within one community there are many differences. Even the opinions and thoughts of people and their impacts on society are unique between each person. Diversity enhances the educational experience. Young kids can learn from people who have different perspective on things like their beliefs and experiences. This can strengthen the communities and promote a healthy society.
We here at Flora’s Pocket believe that diversity is an important trait for any community to have, as it ensures peace between people from different backgrounds as well as connect us together and be treated equally. Regardless of the social standings or physical disabilities we are the same, but each individual is unique.
We are pleased to introduce our first teaser. Get ready to be astonished and more will be revealed in the coming weeks!
